Welcome to the 1st edition of THE EDGE 101 Triple Play! Each week, I will share a thought on the Big Three - FAITH-FAMILY-FITNESS. My hope is that each week this will inspire, challenge, and encourage you in you personal life journey! Here we go!
We all have faith in something. Faith in ourselves, faith in our careers, faith in our future endeavors, maybe even faith in God. All throughout the Bible we read amazing stories of how Jesus performed miracles in the lives of those around Him. Interestingly, a common thread in just about every miracle Jesus performed, was His words to the recipient, 'Your faith has healed you.' 'Because of your faith, it shall be done.' Faith is fuel. It activates the promises and provisions that God has in place for your life. Today, activate your faith!
There is the old saying, 'You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family.' Isn't that true! Some of the toughest relationships aren't on the outside, (coworkers, teammates, clients), but the toughest relationships are often on the inside, (spouse, children, parents, in-laws). How do we navigate through the sometimes turbulent waters of family? One word, HONOR. When in doubt, send honor out. You can never go wrong by taking the high road in relationships. Not everyone in your inner family circle may receive you honoring them but that's ok, you are always taking the high road for your own integrity and character. One of my favorite words of wisdom came from my granddad many years back, he said, 'Never wrestle with a pig because you both get muddy and the pig enjoys it.' - Enough said!
Did you know that an estimated 160 million Americans are either obese or overweight and out of shape? Three quarters of men, and sixty percent of women in the United States are overweight and out of shape. These are staggering numbers that are greatly limiting the quality of life many of us are leading today. I want to issue a personal challenge to each one of us here today, are you ready?....Do something.....Most of us will never be an olympic triathlete, or marathon runner, but we can all take small next steps to a healthier you by being active. Get up and take a walk on your lunch break. Ride bikes with the family instead of facebook. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Whatever it is, do something. Small tweaks take us to high peaks. Start today. Remember, the best gift that you can give to those you love is a healthy you!
